Quilts, quilts, and more quilts.

For those who actually glance at this blog every once in a while will notice that I haven't written in a long time. This is because I have been working on my newest....love/hate relationship: quilts. In the past year or so I have made seven. I have fallen in love with Buggy Barn Quilt patterns. They are as easy as quilts get and they actually look like something, not just random shapes. For more of their patterns, click here.

This is the one I did for Cloie when she graduates from a crib.

This is the pillowcase that goes with it. It shows the flowers a little better too.

Here is the one I made for Jacob for Christmas. He refuses to let me take it off his bed.
The pattern said the brown stripe is meant to look like a dirt road. I messed up/got creative and made each road different.

And a close up of one of the dump trucks.

So, for those who have been wondering where I have been for month, the answer is I have been stuck behind a sewing machine. Hopefully I get better at posting on a regular basis.

explanation on long break

I know I haven't posted in a while. Between, kids, Scott's new job, and crafts I just haven't been able to find the time.
I have finished some projects though. I got my mother-in-law's quilt finished and also Cloie's bed set for when she gets out of a crib. I am currently thinking of making a diaper bag. If anyone has a good pattern/idea for one, I'm all ears.
Pictures of the quilts to come.

Cloie's Birthday

Well, we made it through Cloie's birthday party. She was such a good little girl for not having a clue about what was going on. We were planning on having a hotdog roast with family. That is, until the weather turned cold. We ended up having it inside. I made her cake (or should I say, cakes. One to eat and one for her to smash )the day before, and I must say, it turned out better than I thought. I got the cake idea from here:

Cloie has a pink teddy bear that she can't sleep without so I tri
ed to copy it.

Here is a picture of the birthday girl herself....pre-cake invasion

And here is her, her cake, and her snitch of a brother. I think he got every last bit of icing off of that poor bear's head.

New Pictures of the kids.

Jacob painting his pumpkin, and my pumpkin, and Cloie's, and Scott's, and.....

He didn't want to put the paints away, so he ran off with the plate that we used to put the paints on.

Jacob "helping" with my pumpkin.

Jacob, Gage and Chase (his cousins) at the pumpkin patch.

My little man feeding the horses behind Grandma and Grandpa Nay's home.

My two little skunks eating their lunch. Both of them a mess, as usual.
The slide a the new elementary school. Jacob had decided that he LOVES slides. We have a hard time getting him away from it.

Cloie trying to steal Doggie from Jacob. She is just as obsessed with that worn out thing as he is.
Cloie at Fish Lake. We went up and visited my parents when they were camping.

Here it is, October... Guess it's been a while. Things have kind of been crazy. Scott is still looking for a job, and the kids are loving it. Jacob loves having "mama" and "baba" (grandma and grandpa) around to play with everynight. They spoil him and Cloie rotten. He's going hate it when we move...there won't be half as many cookies or candies or treats for him to invade. He'll also have to go without his morning "prout" (Sprout. It's a TV channel of all kids shows.) You can tell what shows are on in the morning because he can sing the theme songs perfectly. Heaven forbid he remember his shapes or colors that I work on with him... sigh.
Jacob even got on TV the other day. Sprout has mini games online and one of them is what they call "Pic me." All that they do is transpose a kids face onto a cartoon "cutout" and has the kid be the star of the show. Jacob got to do a dance on national TV that way. He did it perfectly. I'm so proud of him.
Cloie is such a little cutie...other than she squeels....no, screams....no, that's not it....screeches at random times. It sounds like we're abusing her. It's also loud enough to make someone go deaf. She now tries to crawl. She hasn't figured it all out yet. She more or less gets up on all fours and lunges forward. I think it looks painful and she's knocked the wind out of herself a few times (which makes her screech) but she keeps doing it. All well. She'll figure it out sooner or later.
As for me, well.... I'm hating myself at the moment. I decided to make a quilt for Jacob's Christmas....before I knew it, I was making four for Christmas, one for my mother-in-law's birthday this spring and another one on the backburner for Cloie's second birthday. Yeah, I know she hasn't even had her first, but the pattern is for a twin bed. I've almost got all the four for Christmas done though.
Well, I think that's enough of an update for now.

Well, Cloie is now a full month old. We went and got pictures of her and Jacob the other day. The one picture I wanted did not happen. I wanted one of the two kids together. My sweetheart of a son though decided that he did NOT want a thing to do with Cloie though. He was fine when the pictures were of just her or just him, but as soon as we put the two of them together....not good. He started to scream and tried to shove her away and everything. The poor photographer....she ended up taking seperate pictures of the two of them and photoshopping them together. I don't get it. Jacob is always so protective of Cloie and always helping her out (giving her the bottle and pacifier...wanting to feed her...even hitting the doctor for making her cry). But he won't sit next to her for one picture.... frusterating.

Our first "family photo." Scott was the one with the Camera

One of those rare moments where she was actually sound asleep!

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Cloie is already a week old and yet in that time, I have so many regrets... most of them involve a camera. I wish I would have taken a picture of my belly before she was born. No one would believe that I have lost thirty pounds already due to her birth. I wish I would have also gotten a picture of how swollen my feet/legs got. If I had I could pull the whole "you did this to me" later in her life. (ok, maybe I wouldn't but at least I would have the option.)
I also wish I would remember to take more pictures of her. She is such a cutie, but rarely awake enough to get a picture of her with her eyes open...at least durring the day.
Cloie unfortuately is a night owl. She will sleep all day and then be wide awake for hours at a time at night.
I am starting to miss Jacob, who has been spending the week at my parents home....ok, not starting to miss him, but deeply miss the little guy. I know I would be dying if he was home and I was stuck trying to get used to her and handle him at the same time so soon, but I still miss him. I'm just glad that (according to Grandma) he has been a good boy. All well, he will be home on Friday, then I'll be praying for a break from him once again.
Scott is slowly getting back into the swing of things with having a newborn. You can tell that he still isn't the best with them, but he's doing a TON better than what he did with Jacob. So far, he has avoided changing every diaper except one, but at least that one didn't end up backwards like it did on Jacob. He's a really good daddy. I just wish he had a day job so that he could spend more time with his kids.
Now that the baby has been born, Scott's back on the job search again. He's looking for any form of full-time day job around the Gunnison area. The sad part is there is NOTHING! Well, there are a few...if he was in the medical proffession, but since he isn't, he's been struggling to even find something to apply for. He has his parents helping him look even. There's just nothing, so we may be stuck in Cedar City. I don't like that because since we're planning on moving if he gets a job, we don't want to find a bigger place here and get stuck under contract. We really could use a three bedroom place though. Especially since Cloie and Jacob are going to be on different scheduels for a long time. It's going to be hard to have them in the same room. For now (at least till she is sleeping for more than 3 hours at a time) Cloie is sleeping in the living room in her bassinet...where she gets woken up by Scott when he comes home from work. I wish I knew some tricks to get her to sleep.

And life continues to turn.

Well, I finally made it to my third trimester. I have deffinately decided being pregnant with Jacob was a walk in the park compaired to this one. At my last appointment they found out 1) I have preeclampsia (guessing on the spelling) which has put me on "walking bedrest." I'm allowed to get up and move around.... as long as I am laying down for ninetynine percent of the day. The doctor also discovered that 2) my pelvis is falling apart. I have too much of the hormone relaxin (which loosens joints and things so the baby can get out). I've got so much that I'm straining all my ligaments and tendons between my hips and my lower back. That limits movement even more! I can't even really roll over in bed without pain now. Not fun.

I am also to the point where I SHOULD have things ready to go...just in case. Needless to say because of all this fun, I don't. So between laying down, watching my every move and chasing Jabob around, I am slowly getting things "baby ready." We have the crib and things, but now I need to pack for Jacob (who will be spending a week at grandma's) Cloie and for myself. I can't get myself to do ANY of it. I just want this kid to come out, THEN I'll worry about that stuff. (if only I could do it in that order).

One thing that I'm slowly getting together (Yay) is a list of phone numbers of babysitters for Jacob. I hate the idea of making one person sit around until I call, so I'm hoping to get as many people as possible. So far.... three for sure (and two of those it depends on the timeing). I have really started to realize that I have next to no friends in the area. I do have two/three more people that I'm going to ask, but other than that, I can't think of a soul that even lives here. I really wish I would have made friends... too bad that I'm too stinking shy for my own good.

Jacob, Cloie, and life

Well, Jacob has figured out how to run, and he does so more than walking....unless I'm in a hurry. He loves to climb up and into anything. The problem is that he can't figure out how to get back down. I have to save him from his waggon several times a day. He's also getting to be a talker. He now says " I love you" (if you know that's what he's saying, it's not that clear yet). It makes it hard to get after him. As soon as you start to get upset, he says it and it melts all the frusteration away. I think he knows that and uses it to get away with more. He is also up to four teeth finally! Two on top and two on bottom. I was starting to wonder if he would only be able to eat apple sauce when he graduates from high school. He's decided that he likes hamburgers too.
The baby is getting huge! At my first ultrasound they were thinking of moving my due date up because of her size. I know that she is already kicking hard enough to wake me up. The sibling fights have already begun. Jacob was sitting on my lap the other day and Cloie (the baby) started kicking at him. He just sat there and adjusted away from her. She kept finding him until he got sick of it. He turned around and hit me right in the stomach, trying to get her to stop. I was laughing too hard to get after him for hitting me. I thought I had a few months until I had to worry about them hurting each other. Nope, my kids have to be ahead of plans and beat each other up before they can even see each other.
We have another ultrasound in St. George at the end. Nothing specifically is wrong, but they just want to double check a few things (her size, back and heart). She really didn't want to behave durring the first one so they couldn't do a lot of what they needed to.

me rambling again

Well, I might actually get to spend some time with my family this next week. Technically this year we're having thanksgiving at the Nay's, but Scott has to work that night. So, on Tuesday I'm going up to my parents. Scott will have to spend thanksgiving alone, but knowing him, he'll actually be grateful for the alone-time. I'm more excited to see my family. I've seen my parents, but as far as my whole family, it's been since August for Jacob's birthday.
We found out that we're having a girl and I almost think it would be better if we were having a boy. I know that I'm going crazy with everything pink and it's driving Scott insane. We're even going to St. George tomorrow just for the outlet mall for girl stuff. All well, a little girl-power in this family would deffinatly be a nice change.

Life continues on. Jacob is now walking...EVERYWHERE. He has also started to climb and shut doors. He hasn't figured out how to open them though. I spend a large part of my day figuring out which room he has shut himself into.
The nausea of pregnancy is finally easing up. I still feel sick almost constantly, but at least I'm not throwing up. The only problem is I'm still lossing weight. At my appointment on monday, I had lost another 8 pounds. I don't know HOW I'm losing weight, I feel like all I do is eat, but all well. The baby is doing ok, so I guess there is nothing to worry about.... it's not like I couldn't stand to lose a few pounds.

busy day and "fun" nights

Well, today has been a busy day. It started with having an "official" pregnancy test. The doctor had to do one for the insurance (medicaid) so I could have a 'doctor's note.' I did that with Jacob this morning while Scott was asleep. I then applied for the insurance and made another doctor's apointment. I have since spent the rest of the day planning Jacob's birthday (family) party this weekend and trying to keep Jacob quiet.
Scott is still being a pain in the butt. He is working nights five nights per week and is always onery. I'm trying to be patient with him. I know he is exausted, but there is only so much of his attitude I can take. To top it off, Jacob is noticing that daddy won't play with him and so he's getting upset too. I don't know how to explain that to a one-year-old. I wish that Scott would just deal with the fact of being worn out long enough to have an hour of playing with Jacob just so he still knows he has a dad. I also wish he would have a conversation with me without saying "I'm too tired to care." All well, I guess I need to just deal with it.

Life goes on.

Well here it is, day....three of knowing I'm pregnant (as far as 2 home tests go) and life sucks. Scott is basically roaming the house moping. He acts like its my fault that I'm pregnant. He seems to forget it takes two to tango and I'm just as shocked as he is. I try to make him smile, but somehow I just make it worse. I wish I knew what to do. I've came to gripps with the fact and yes, its going to be a pain having two kids so young, but life goes on. I want this baby and I'm actually happy that I'm pregnant....for the most part. I WOULD be happy is Scott would cheer up and quit saying things. I mean, he keeps saying things like he hopes the tests were wrong and (to sum it up) that he doesn't want it. I don't know what to do. I want him to be happy, but the only way to do that is something I wont even justify by saying. I'm so scared that this baby won't be loved at all by its daddy. What can I do?

Life...updated

Well, here it is the begining of June and I haven't written anything since Febuarary. Scott has graduated from SUU and I have the summer off. We're going to drive each other crazy before he gets a full time job. Because of this fact, Jacob and I are going to my parents to stay for the week next tuesday. To be honest, I'm not sure whether it will be better or not.....
Anyway, we've moved...again. We're still in Cedar, but we found a place that is a little cheaper and a WHOLE LOT nicer. We have permission to paint, fix anything....basically we own this lady's basement. The only problem I have with it are her cats...they fight all the time at night but I'm not going to complain too much about it.
Other than that, it's just life as usual. Jacob is almost walking. He's pulling himself up to everything...furniture, legs, walls,... you name it. He's getting way too big...mentally. We took him to the doctors for his checkup and we found out he's a shrimp! He's in the 7th percentile for his height, and in the 23rd for his weight. All well. I guess he is just like his mother.

ramblings

Well, here it is Feburary.... well, almost halfway through. Things haven't changed too much. I'm still stuck babysitting for our neighbor (she babysits for us) whose kid is ALWAYS sick. I swear not a week goes by with him healthy. Anyway, Jacob is almost standing by himself. He can pull it off for about a half-second. He's also starting to get his first tooth. He hasn't been the happiest of kid lately because of it. I can't wait until it's out. he can start eating the cherios that my sister keeps giving me for him. (we have about 6 boxes already with the promise of more).
Scott's almost through with school. He just has this semester left and I can't wait until he's done. (for many different reasons) The main reason being he'll be happier and less stressed. Another is he can get an actual full time job instead of this crappy one where you don't know IF you'll even have it tomorrow.
The best part is we might be able to move out of this apartment! I know we just moved 6 months ago, but we have a very annoying neighbor. her kids' room is right next to ours and lets just say 1) paper thin walls, 2)kids with a late bedtime who don't want to sleep and 3) work at 6:00 do NOT mix. All well... soon enough it will be over.

Saturday, January 3, 2009

get off the roads, Jacob is driving.

This is the little runt on his new favorite toy. Once we put him in it, he will only get out if he's hungry.
This little Jeep has saved my arms. He refuses to sit or lay down most of the time.

Update.

Well, what can I say about the last....well over four months? Jacob was born August 10th and 10:08 in the morning. I called it. My mom was saying it would be on 08/08/08 and my mother in law was saying it would be 08/09, scott's birthday. I kept saying he'd come a day later than all of them, just because they wanted him to come then. (HA! mom really does know best!)
Anyway, He's be both a pain and a blessing. He's really an overall great kid (sleeps through the night...mostly, rarely cries unless he's hungary, ect.) but lately we think he's starting to teeth.....not fun. Also, he has had it in his head for months that he has to be standing at every moment. (I'm not kidding, from about three weeks on, he refuses to sit or lay down) We finally fixed that problem over Christmas by getting him a walker. I was starting to get muscles in my arms though.
I'm still going to school. I start full time on monday. I'm not likeing the babysitting situation though. I'm getting jipped. I'm babysitting for 15 hours to the other girl's 5. All well, I'm just going to tell her that I need to be paid for those ten extra hours. I wouldn't be so mad if it wasn't for two things. 1) this is what happened last semester and she refused to ever realize how uneven it was and 2) it's THAT big of a difference. All well, life goes on.

Life as I know it.

Well, here it is....another day. Things are actually very calm right now. We finally got the car fixed (WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING NOW!!!!! YAY!!!!) But now the truck is leaking transmission fluid so I'm STILL without a vehicle while Scott takes the car to work. All well... it happens.
I've also been deep cleaning our already-cleaned apartment...again. I'm soooo bored that I've cleaned every closet, cubbard and drawer at least twice....and rearranged furniture in every room at least once. I need a hobby. I've tried sewing...hahaha. Any other ideas?
Anyway, I'm now sitting here writing while my husband reads over my shoulder and tries to figure out how to get to my blog to read it... VERY entertaining. I love this game. Keep one thing somewhat private from him and watch him go crazy! All well... I guess I'll be the loving wife and show him how after I'm through writing this.
Hope everythings going good for you.

Summer Blues

Well, here it is the last day of June, not even half way through the summer and I can't wait for it to end. It's so HOT and muggy outside I can't even stand it. To top it off, I can't even really go anywhere. Our car doesn't have air conditioning and we just found out it overheats on the half hour drive to St. George! There goes all of my plans of what I want to do on my birthday.
Then there is this whole being pregnant thing. It's made this past week VERY.... exciting. We've ended up making a couple trips to the hospital. The first time was for back pain....not too bad, but enough to cause concern of contractions. They said I was having some, but not enough to frett about, gave about a gallon of morphine and told me to come back if the pain got worse. Saturday afternoon, it did. We went back. Turns out that I was having contractions at the rate of about one ever minute and a half, but I was only dialated to a one. The contractions are not labor related (however THAT works.) They then told me that the back pain might be kidney or galbladder stones. So much fun. Because of all this fun my husband has been watching my every move when he's home and I also earned myself a days worth of bedrest. Oh goodie. I can't wait until this kid is born and life can quit being so....so.... tradgic. All well... life hopefully will be calmer this week.
